Sietske and I have just come back from a trip through Europe by train (which we will talk about in a future blogpost) but today I want to share with you some photos that I took a couple of weeks ago when I visited the town of Portsmouth in Hampshire, in the south of England.
We were staying at a lovely sea-view hotel, giving us a perfect vista of the sea, the Isle of Wight, and the many forts that surrounding the Portsmouth coast. One of our dear friends lives in the city, and proved to be an excellent tour. On our first morning she took us on the hovercraft and we visited the Isle of Wight, which neither me nor A had ever visited before.
On the island we walked on the beaches, looked for sea-shells, had coffee and cake and just enjoyed all the beautiful buildings and villages, and enjoyed traveling on the old train that services the different villages on the island.
In the evening we returned to the city, where we had a very tasty vegan burger and beer from The Southsea Village Pub which I can highly recommend to anyone visiting the city. I would’ve loved to have stayed longer but two nights in Portsmouth was a perfect short break in a busy week where I was doing preparation work for my trip to Italy!
