After our stay in rainy Spain a couple of weeks ago, we tried to make our way up north again, but early in the morning we received the news that all trains had been cancelled due to flooding. We managed to book an early morning bus to Bordeaux, and decided to make the most of it.
It was my first visit to the city, and, despite heavy rains, Bordeaux is a truly beautiful city. We wandered around the streets for a while, had a beautiful lunch, and got some lovely Christmas gifts from a small shop called Serendipity – if we had more space in our suitcases we could’ve easily bought this shop empty!
Late in the afternoon we took a train from Bordeaux to Paris, and the next morning we had a small walk around the city. Luckily by then the weather had cleared and we managed to enjoy a nice cup of coffee on a small terrace!
That evening we arrived back in York – tired, but happy with great memories of a lovely trip to some new cities. I cannot wait to go back again!
