When I’m in the living room, I get a beautiful view on our garden through the French doors. It’s all quite green, the sun is shining, and things look pleasant. But despite the sunshine, the temperatures have been quite low, and I’ve been dreading to go out and get some work done! There’s a couple of plants that need to be given a new home in our garden, but because of the cold I’ve been procrastinating.
About three years ago I replanted our Akebia (chocolate vine), and it’s never flowered. Until now: it seems to be happy, and it surprised us with a wonderful display of many beautiful small flowers. One could weave baskets, wreaths and other things with the vines of the Akebia, but ours decided to weave its own wreath for us!
Our friend the duck has also returned, with her current friend. We can’t remember when she appeared first (probably some 5 years ago), but it remains special to see her find her way to our house each year. Frida, our cat, is grounded at the moment. A blackbird decided to make a rather clumsy nest in an awkward spot in the garden. The bird really didn’t seem to care, and must’ve thought that we should keep responsibility for the cat also. The young have now left the nest, which is a relief for us, and for Frida also as she’s allowed outside again!
Now let’s hope for some warmer weather soon, so we can spend some more time in the outdoors also!
