A couple of days ago A and I got back from a trip to Sweden and Denmark. Our first couple of days we stayed in Stockholm. I love how the granite rock just seems to rise out of the asphalt on the streets, giving you a real sense of wilderness in the city.
In the middle of the Stockholm is a small island called Langholmen. You can get onto the island via a large bridge, which in winter can be very cold and windy! But once you get on the island you are rewarded by the stunning beauty of this place, with its old houses and forests. I climbed to one of the higher points of the island, braving ice and snow, to take a few photos for you.
Below are some of the photos I took on my walk. They start with the view from Kungsholmen over the frozen water towards Langholmen, then show the bridge crossing, Langholmen, and finally reaching Gamla Stan (via Södermalm, where I didn’t take any photos).
