So here’s a new post from tropical Sloten! We had just started to do some DIY in the living room, but because of the current heatwave, we have paused all work for a bit. So everything is happening a little slower than usual here. We’re desperately waiting for some cool weather, and for rain!
As for the living room, there are a few things that need a lick of paint. Perhaps a nice light wooden floor? The lamps already received a new look. At the thrift store, we bought a wonderful old chair. It didn’t quite fit into the rest of the interior so we gave it a lick of paint. Initially, we were going to reupholster the chair. But seeing that our lovely. little cat Emma loves to sharpen her nails onto our furniture, we’ve decided that maybe we shouldn’t do that just yet. So after a little research, we opted to paint the fabric. We chose chalk-paint by Annie Sloan: “Old White” for the upholstery and “Paris Grey” for the woodwork. We’re very pleased with the result!
Our poor garden is having a tough time with the heatwave. We’ve been watering the garden a lot, so we hope for the best. Although we sit less in the garden now during the day, we’ve had some wonderful hours later in the evening. When it cools down a bit, there’s still so much to enjoy with those magical evening hours of August!
