At home I have a huge collection of books on a wide variety of subjects. It’s a habit I’ve always had: I cannot pass the opportunity of adding a beautiful title to my personal library. Ever since I was young I’ve loved looking at books of art – the paintings and sculptures in them always spoke to me, and it was evident from an early age that I would do something creative when I grew up.
Today, sitting at home with a cup of coffee and a book on my lap, I am doing something creative. Taking inspiration for my work as a designer, I love digging into books, and looking up patterns. The book I’m currently looking at is one of Gothic architecture, and seeing the photos from the Notre Dame and other beautiful buildings, I am taken back to our visit to Paris last year. Despite us having traveled a fair bit over the years, I had never before visited the city. We were there only for two days, but it was fantastic to just walk along the Seine, and see all the sights in the city that I only knew from books before.
One of the highlights of our trip for me was a visit to Musée de Cluny, and Sainte-Chapelle. To step into the pages of the books I love, and to see the city’s wonderful monuments alive, made it an experience I won’t forget any time soon. I hope to travel back again sometime, and spend a little longer, to marvel at all the beautiful things the city has to offer. For now, I’ll go back to my book, and my coffee, and leave you with some photos I took in the city of love!
