Today I would like to share with you some photos I took of Sloten, a lovely very small medieval city where we live. (first 8 photos) With only 900 inhabitants Sloten is one of the smallest cities of the Netherlands and received city rights in 1426. So don’t call Sloten a village while you are visiting our city, proud inhabitants will correct you! 🙂 Sloten is renowned for its peacefulness and natural beauty. The walls, the ramparts, the canals and the city gates had to protect the city from intruders and are still intact.
Last Friday I traveled to Amsterdam where I met my brother Jacob and his partner. They live in York (UK), so it always feels extra special when we meet. We had a lovely day and walked along the canals, did some shopping and of course talked a lot. One of the shops I particularly liked was record store Concerto, a very nostalgic shop. It opened in 1955 and spanning 5 shop fronts it is quite big. I was very happy to see such a huge selection vinyl, both new and second hand. I bought the latest albums by Agnes Obel and Anna Calvi and when I return to Amsterdam I will sure visit this lovely store again!
